Blue Data Presents Case Study at Strata + Hadoop World 2014: Global Telecommunications Operator Validates Big Data as a Service using BlueData EPIC Platform
Company Selected as Show “Best of the Best” Finalist; Demonstrates in Startup Showcase How Enterprises of All Sizes Can Create On-Demand Spark and Hadoop Clusters in Minutes
Mountain View, Calif. – BlueData, the pioneer of Big Data private clouds, today announced that the company was named a Strata + Hadoop World “Best of the Best” finalist. Visitors to Strata Conference + Hadoop World, taking place October 15-17, 2014, at the Javits Center in New York, N.Y., can learn how BlueDataTM is making Big Data accessible to all by simplifying and streamlining Big Data infrastructure and enabling the creation of instant Spark and Hadoop clusters. In addition to a continuous schedule of presentations in BlueData’s booth, #116, by the company, its customers and partners, BlueData was selected to make a presentation in the Startup Showcase.
BlueData Co-founder to Present Global Telco Use Case at the Solutions Showcase Theater in the Expo Hall on Friday, October 17, at 10:45 a.m. EST.
BlueData co-founder and chief architect Tom Phelan will present a customer use case detailing how a global telecommunications operator successfully used the BlueData EPICTM platform to evaluate and validate “Big Data as a Service” within its data center.
The presentation will share how the BlueData EPIC platform provided the ideal solution the company needed to streamline the creation of ephemeral Big Data clusters that would interconnect with a persistent Hadoop cluster to extract the desired data. The goal was to allow various teams of developers to run multiple distributed applications on various versions of Hadoop distributions simultaneously, while being able to scale resources easily, either up or down, based on usage.
To solve this problem, the global telecommunications operator implemented the BlueData EPIC platform to create a secure, multi-tenant Big Data Private Cloud that supports multiple applications and Hadoop distributions on a limited set of physical resources. The BlueData EPIC platform enabled the company to create the agile Big Data infrastructure needed to accelerate its Big Data projects.
