DBTA Names BlueData’s Software a Trend-Setting Product in Data Management and Analysis

For Third Time This Year, BlueData Recognized for Innovation in Big Data and Containers

Santa Clara, Calif. — BlueData®, provider of the leading Big-Data-as-a-Service (BDaaS) software platform, today announced that Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) magazine named BlueData’s EPIC software to its annual list of the top products in data management and analysis. The list, “DBTA Trend-Setting Products for 2018,” recognizes products in the marketplace that are both innovative and effective in helping customers address evolving challenges and opportunities.

DBTA recognized BlueData for its innovations in using Docker containers to streamline deployment of Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, and other Big Data analytics and data science tools. BlueData enables enterprises to easily run containerized Big Data workloads in a self-service, elastic, and multi-tenant environment – whether on-premises, in the public cloud, or in a hybrid architecture. Using BlueData’s EPIC software, data science teams can spin up instant clusters and get on-demand access to the applications, data, and infrastructure they need.

“Today, more than ever, businesses rely on IT to deliver a competitive edge,” remarked Thomas Hogan, group publisher at DBTA. “However, it has become very difficult to sift through all the hype and identify products that produce results in the real world. We created this list to do the heavy lifting for you and point out the products that are really transforming enterprise data management and analysis.”

You can find DBTA’s full list of “Trend-Setting Products for 2018” here and the spotlight on BlueData here. Each year, DBTA looks for solutions that help organizations to derive greater benefit from their data, make better decisions, work more efficiently, achieve greater security, and address emerging challenges. Their list of trend-setting products is designed to help illuminate the path on which the data management market is headed.

“We’re proud to be named a trendsetter in data management and analysis by DBTA,” said Kumar Sreekanti, co-founder and CEO at BlueData. “Our software is a game-changer for Big Data and we’ve been blazing the trail in several areas, including compute/storage separation and the use of Docker containers. It’s exciting to see these trends become more broadly adopted in the industry by our enterprise customers and partners around the world.”

The announcement is the latest in a series of awards and recognition for BlueData over the past several months. Earlier this year, BlueData won the Datanami Editors’ Choice award for “Best Big Data Product or Technology: Virtualization.” In addition, CRN named BlueData as one of the “15 Coolest Big Data Platform Vendors” and included BlueData on its “Big Data 100” list of innovative technology vendors for the third year in a row.
