BlueData has been fortunate to work with both EMC and Dell as a partner. We’ve collaborated with many teams and joint customers across both companies, united in our common mission to simplify and accelerate the deployment of Big Data infrastructure in the enterprise.
The newly combined Dell Technologies is a technology powerhouse capable of delivering next generation solutions across the full IT ecosystem, including Big Data. These solutions have been on display at this week’s Dell EMC World in Austin, Texas – and we’re proud to be one of the certified technology partners featured at the event.
BlueData’s software enables a Big-Data-as-a-Service (BDaaS) experience for on-premises deployments, powered by Docker containers. Together with Dell Technologies, we can deliver faster deployment, higher performance, and lower total cost of ownership for our joint customers – with on-demand elastic infrastructure for Hadoop, Spark, and other Big Data implementations.
The BlueData EPIC software platform delivers greater simplicity, agility, flexibility, and cost savings for Big Data deployments – while also ensuring security and data governance in a multi-tenant environment. With EPIC software, you can spin up Hadoop or Spark clusters – with the data and analytical tools that your data scientists need – in minutes rather than months.
BlueData’s relationship with Dell Technologies extends across multiple areas in their newly combined IT portfolio. Our software is certified on Dell PowerEdge servers and we’ve worked closely with EMC’s Big Data solutions teams. Earlier this year, in our spring release, we extended our support for Big Data applications including Pivotal HDB (Apache HAWQ) and Pivotal Gemfire (Apache Geode). We are also a VMware technology partner; our BlueData EPIC software platform runs on either VMware ESX or on bare-metal servers.
Now that Dell and EMC are one company, we’re excited to double-down on these efforts and deliver the best possible solutions for our mutual customers. Together, we address many of the challenges that enterprises struggle with when implementing a Big Data solution.
Many of these synergies are in the infrastructure domain. But we also share a common vision with Dell Technologies on the need to provide data scientists and analysts with the ability to use their tools of choice for Big Data analytics. Big Data architects and IT managers are under pressure to support the rapidly evolving ecosystem of Big Data applications, while also providing enterprise-grade IT security and control. It’s no longer just about Hadoop (or Spark for that matter) – it’s all about the applications. And speed is a key element of success, to reduce learning curves and deliver faster time-to-insights: data scientists, analysts, and developers want on-demand access to their preferred Big Data tools.
In partnership with the newly combined Dell Technologies, we can help deliver an end-to-end Big-Data-as-a-Service solution that delivers business value with Big Data analytics within days rather than months – providing the performance, security, and cost-efficiency that IT teams require along with the speed, agility, and flexibility that data science teams want. It’s truly a better together combination.
