This week, CRN (a brand of The Channel Company) released its annual Big Data 100 list – and for the third year in a row, BlueData was named to the list. This list recognizes the ingenuity of tech suppliers bringing to market innovative offerings for harnessing the increasingly huge amounts of data generated in today’s digital world – raising the bar for data management and challenging established IT practices.
Businesses are constantly grappling with the exploding volume, speed, and variety of information they produce and utilize on a daily basis to remain competitive. BlueData and other solution providers are on a never-ending quest to tame this Big Data with innovative tools, technologies, and services that can convert it into meaningful, usable statistics.
In response to this challenge, the CRN editorial team creates their annual Big Data 100 list to highlight the IT vendors that have demonstrated an ability to innovate in bringing to market products and services that help businesses work with Big Data.
Business analytics and data management software may be the most visible components of a company’s big data ecosystem. But under those software products are complex, integrated systems – either on-premises or in the cloud – that serve as platforms for Big Data applications, processing huge volumes of data and providing the horsepower that keeps Big Data systems running.
So this year CRN specifically called out “The 15 Coolest Big Data Platform Vendors” to recognize the leading providers of on-premises and cloud systems for building and operating Big Data systems. BlueData is featured as #2 on the list, right after our partner Amazon Web Services. It’s great to see some of our other partners like Cloudera, Dell EMC, HPE, Hortonworks, and MapR named to this prestigious list as well.
The brief profile of BlueData is on the CRN website here. As noted in the profile, the BlueData EPIC software platform uses Docker container technology to make it easier, faster, and more cost-effective for enterprises of all sizes to leverage Big Data – enabling Big-Data-as-a-Service either on-premises or in the cloud. With BlueData, they can spin up instant clusters for Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, or other Big Data frameworks (and complete data science environments) with just a few mouse clicks – providing data scientists and analysts with on-demand access to the applications, data, and infrastructure they need.
Last year we saw the demand for our Big-Data-as-a-Service solution take off – with explosive 426% growth fueled by new customer wins and expansion deals. The pace this year has continued to accelerate, after we released new capabilities for bringing DevOps agility to data science operations and machine learning – then earlier this spring we announced our ground-breaking performance benchmarking results with Intel and introduced our support for running BlueData EPIC in a hybrid architecture (both on-premises and on AWS). Building on this momentum, we’re honored to be recognized again by CRN as one of the leaders and innovators in the Big Data market.
“Businesses everywhere are faced with managing information streams of unprecedented volume and complexity, requiring more powerful and efficient tools than ever before for capturing, storing, organizing, securing and analyzing data,” said Robert Faletra, CEO of The Channel Company. “CRN is pleased to present the 2017 Big Data 100, a list of vendors whose ingenuity and creative problem-solving have introduced remarkable new ways to help solution providers tackle this mammoth task. Congratulations to these Big Data aces, who have not only kept pace with the rapidly evolving demands of the data management field, but also innovated and challenged the status quo.”
